Godzilla Movies In Order

Godzilla is a timeless classic for both American and Japanese people.  Existing for over five decades and spawning over two dozen movies, Godzilla has since went on to become a legendary film.  So successful in both countries, this movie has won numerous awards, and has movies scheduled through 2018.  The latest American movie in the series has totaled more than a half billion dollars since its release earlier this year prompting Warner Brothers to schedule a sequel which will hit the big screens in 2018.  In fact, this franchise is so successful that after the original movie debut in the 50s, Godzilla has went on to become a TV, comic, and video game series.

If you’re wondering if you have to watch the Godzilla movies in order, the answer is no.  So far each of them contain their own story line and they aren’t continuations of each other.  However, this may change within the next couple years as Godzilla 2 comes out in 2018.  Right now it’s unclear if that will be a sequel to the 2014 movie, or a completely standalone film.  With that said, I always recommend watching movies in the order of their release date.  It makes the most sense because that’s how they were supposed to be seen.  It’s not a huge deal though, if you pick and choose which to watch and when to watch them.

Originally inspired by King Kong, Godzilla has went on to make its own mark in the big monster film niche.  There have been at least 33 separate movies, including the 1962 flick where he fights King Kong himself.  Most of those releases are in Japanese, however, Warner Brothers who currently own the rights for Godzilla are doing their best to make some American versions as well.

Godzilla has been warmly received by movie fans and critics alike.  Even the latest 2014 movie was warmly accepted by fans earning almost a half billion dollars worldwide.  The franchise itself has both been nominated and won many awards over the last half century.  Most notable are MTVs lifetime achievement award, Saturn Awards best classic film, and a whole slew of Japanese Academy Awards.

The Godzilla franchise has expanded heavily into popular culture.  It has been spun into at least four different TV series, including animated cartoons.  Along with TV, this popular series has a strong hold in the video game market.  Starting in the 80s and continuing till this today, Godzilla has over two dozen video games, including recent ones which are available for PS3 and the Wii.

Whether you like monster flicks or not, one thing is clear: Godzilla is here to stay.  This timeless classic has been around since the 1950s, and is still wowing movie viewers till this today.  Giving producers a chance to utilize fancy CGI, this action packed monster flick is a legend in its niche.  Whether you only check out one movie in the series, or watch every movie in the order that they were released, you’re sure to enjoy these timeless flicks.

I have **LOVED** being scared to death since I, as a young girl, discovered a movie named Godzilla one Saturday morning on local television. I have been totally addicted to this extraordinary series and my precious husband has never fussed nor complained about making an emergency run to the video store to pick up my my pre ordered and often prepaid movie. I LOVE the movies, I loved being scared to death while watching the movies on DVDs at home after seeing them at our local theater . PLEASE KEEP ON MAKING WONDERFUL GODZILLA MOVIES for my children and me to cozy up with popcorn and soft drinks together being *SCARED* and loving every second of watching our Godzilla movies….I think the Godzilla Series is only getting BETTER and I love watching the movies.
    Well Done Indeed!

Decent movie. The lighting was too dark in a number of the scenes. Know he was going for the gloomy background but it took away from some scenes. Much better than the TOHO movie that came out inn2016. The US CGI movies being better than the TOHO version is historic. If this is what we are to expect from TOHO CSI then maybe they should stick to man in suit.
