Halloween Movies In Order

For over three decades, the Halloween movie series has been terrifying fans across the world. This franchise has made Michael Myers, the clinically insane serial killer featured in all of the Halloween movies a household name. Even people who haven’t seen a single film in the series still recognize the name and can tell you what he did. With ten current films, and more planned for the future, this horror franchise has cemented its way into scary movie history. With continued success in the box office, this series is sure to keep scaring you for years to come.

Normally slasher films don’t need to be watched in any particular order. For instance, Saw, and Chucky can both be watched in any order you please. However, I would definitely not recommend that for this series. I would watch the Halloween movies in order, by release date, in a complete chronological order. The later movies definitely build off of the earlier movies, and H20 released in 1998 will definitely make far more sense if you have seen the original films. If you’ve already watched one out of order, I recommend starting over at the beginning. It’s not too late, as long as you have not seen Halloween H2O. The only movie to really contain deal breaking spoilers is H2O.

The future of this franchise remains unclear at the moment, but I have faith. Way back in 2011 Halloween 3D was all the rage. Talks of the impending release excited fans of this series. However, talks fell through and nothing was mentioned again until earlier this year. The announcement stated this year that they would indeed be going through with the 3D spinoff, but no more details were given. As Halloween the holiday approaches, we might start to hear more news in that respect.

Halloween is not just a movie series, it has been turned both into novels, comics, and video games. The novels that were written closely follow the first few original movies and were published by Berkley Books. Other notable achievements in popular culture are toys, costumes, and a rather in depth comic book series. I don’t think I’ve been to a single costume party where I haven’t seen a Michael Myers mask.

Being September now, we can safely assume that in just a short month we’ll again be seeing marathons of this awesome series on TV again. Hopefully we can also get some news on whether the writers of Halloween will continue the series into the future. If not, it’s still a legendary film that stands next to Jason from Friday the 13^th, and Freddy Kruger from A Nightmare on Elm Street and is definitely a top movie in its genre.
