Step Up Movies In Order
The Step Up movie series has five films in total, the latest was released in 2014 entitled “Step up: All in”. Since 2006, this series has been reasonably successful, earning its makers 650 million for worldwide box office earnings. This series is made for people who can appreciate awesome dance moves. Throw in a little romance, a heartwarming tale of a disadvantaged youth getting a second chance at life, and you have a hit. For these reasons and more, Step Up has continually pleased audiences around the world.
If you’re wondering if you have to watch the Step Up movie series in order, the answer is no. Each movie maintains both a separate plotline, as well as characters. However, the final movie which was released in 2014 has many of the characters from previous movies. The premise of the final movie is to have a big meet up in Las Vegas containing all of the characters from all of the previous movies. If you’ve seen all of the movies in this series, “Step up: All in”, is actually a pretty fun watch.
This series has actually been fairly successful with each new release. In total, the budget for all five movies was just shy of 100 million. The total earnings in the box office for the series was 650 million, a fairly large profit margin. Critical review of this series has been relatively negative, the highest rating of the five is a 46% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, these movies aren’t exactly made for their epic plots, it’s mainly to show off cool dance moves and warm your heart. I wouldn’t read too much into what the critics think about this one.

Because of the continued success of this franchise, I would be surprised if we’ve seen the end to this series. While there’s no official word, I would paint a target date of 2016 for another release. I come at this date because the current release schedule for the previous five films has been every two years, like clockwork. With a reasonably high profit margin on the previous movies, there’s no reason why there should not be another release in the upcoming years.
The Step Up movie series is both a heartwarming story, as well as an entertaining dance flick. For this reason, I rate it highly, and recommend watching all films in this series in order. Hopefully in the upcoming years we’ll hear more about a potential 6th film in this successful franchise. However, until then, we five awesome movies to watch, so fire up Netflix and have fun!

The children watched the all in movie today, and they were all dancing on my bed, my 5 year old wants to dance, and thus I am amazed.

I have seen 4 of the 5 and loved all of them. They are each unique in their own way. I am excited to watch the 5th, so I can see how they tie in the previous characters in with each other. Dance is an art form like any other. It gives people a way to express their feelings and who they are, just as a musician, painter or sculptor does. There are so many forms of dancing that the series could continue and plot format be changed slightly and it would still do well I believe.
