Chucky Movies In Order
The Chucky movie series is one of the most popular in the horror genre. Ranked with other top selling horror icons such as Jason from Friday the 13th, and Freddy Kruger in Nightmare on Elm Street, Chucky the doll has been terrifying movie goers since 1988. Since then and with great consistency, Don Mancini has been delivering awesome flicks with the latest one being released in 2013. Don played a helping hand in both the writing and producing of all six current films in the Chucky franchise, and currently has plans for a future seventh movie. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone because in the almost 20 years of the franchise this character just keeps on gaining traction both at the box office and in popular culture.
The good thing about the Child’s Play franchise is there is no need to watch the Chucky movies in order. For the most part, they are standalone movies with their own individual plots. That’s not to say that it’s not preferable to watch them in order, chronologically, it’s just not necessary. The first movie will obviously explain subsequent movies, but you should be able to jump in mid-series and figure out what’s going on. Early movies explain why Chucky keeps trying to put his soul into a human body, and explains why he’s in the form of a good toy doll.
This franchise has deep roots in popular culture. Almost everyone could identify the infamous Chucky doll, and there are tons of toys, costumes, games, and other movies who reference him. It’s been featured and parodied in many movies as well as TV shows, and even used by a president to describe someone. All this and more are why this franchise continues to pump out box office hits, and why there are future plans for even more movies in this awesome story.

If you thought the Chucky series was one of the scariest horror movies you’ve ever seen, you are not alone. In fact, the original film, Child’s Play released in 1988 was actually met with protest. The protesters claimed that it would incite violence in children, and the third movie in the series was claimed to be an inspiration for two murders that took place in the UK. While that may or may not be true, one thing is clear: the writers of this terrifying horror story did an excellent job.
Whatever the future hold for this toy doll, it’s clear that the Chucky brand is here to stay. It’s a household name for both fans of scary movies, and those who oppose them, cementing this characters roll in the future. And considering that with each new release the box office tells a better and better story, this series will probably see a wealth of new movies in the future. So whether you watch them in order chronologically, or skip around, enjoy this famous piece of American horror.
