Terminator Movies In Order

The Terminator movie series, originally starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is a timeless science fiction film. It takes place in a world where computers have become self-aware, and have grouped together to eliminate their only perceived threat: humanity. Since its inception in 1984, this series has boomed with a total of four separate movies, and a fifth one on the way in 2015. In total, the four existing films have netted their makers 1.5 billion dollars, making this an extremely successful franchise. The original Terminator movie was so popular that it received an extremely rare 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and is rated as the top 100 best movies of all time. Pretty impressive for a website that is known for being highly critical in both rating and reviewing.

If you haven’t seen any of the movies yet, you should watch the Terminator movies in order. The first three in the set are arguably a trilogy and follow a chronological timeline. The fourth movie, “Salvation” 2009 can be seen as a standalone movie. I think if you just want to get your feet wet, you could watch the fourth one without having seen the others. However, I would not recommend starting at T2 or T3 because T1 acts as a precursor. If you’re going to binge watch the series, definitely start on the first one and watch them in order, by release date.

Alongside of movies, the Terminator also made a brief appearance on television. Starting in 2008 and ending the following year, “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” followed the events that transpired after “Terminator 2”. The series focused on Sarah and John and the events that followed after the explosion at the Cyberdyne.

This franchise is still alive and well today with two projects underway that will carry it into the future. The first is a movie which is entitled “Terminator: Genisys” and slated for 2015. There is also a second and third movie which are both currently untitled, but are slated for 2017 and 2018. The new films will be part of a standalone trilogy that is separate from the original trilogy. The second project is a TV series that is meant to run side by side with the upcoming films. The name of the TV series is called “Terminator: Project Skynet”. Not much is known about it so far, but we do know that it will deviate from the original 1984 film in some way.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan of terminator or all you know about it is Arnold’s catch phrase, “I’ll Be Back”, one thing is clear: this series is alive and well. With both a TV series, and a fresh trilogy on the way, fans have made it clear that they want more of this amazing scifi flick. With rave reviews, amazing box office earnings, and a dedicated fan base, Terminator has cemented its way well into the future of movie classics.
