The Chronicles of Narnia Movies In Order

Like many epic sagas, The Chronicles of Narnia movie series was originally based on a book series. With seven books written and only three released movies so far, this awesome story still has a long way to go on the big screen. The next film, an adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew, is scheduled to open in theaters on February 12, 2027, and arrive on Netflix on April 2, 2027. It will be the first screen adaptation of that book.

Similar to other fantasy movie sagas, you definitely need to watch The Chronicles of Narnia movies in order. The three released movies follow the story in publication order, while the upcoming adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew will tell how Narnia began. Now like many series, particularly Star Wars, it’s a murky situation. The book order was changed after Lewis died, so the official publication order is actually not chronological anymore. However, if you’re just getting into the series, the non-chronological order (the current unofficial publication order) is just fine. It’s not really possible to read the books in a perfect sequential timeline. To do that you would have to stop reading in the middle of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and pick up The Horse and His Boy, and then switch back to TWW. For convenience sake, the current movie and book publication order is a perfect way to get started in this series.

The Chronicles of Narnia series has been very financially successful. The three released movies have earned more than 1.5 billion dollars at the box office. It’s also been received well by fans, with a Rotten Tomatoes score for the original movie at 76%. Subsequent releases earned slightly lower ratings at 67% and 49%, respectively.
