Fast and Furious Movies In Order

The Fast and the Furious is a movie series that every car lover has watched. Beginning in 2001, this series inspired car enthusiasts around the world and strengthened car modding communities. With a total of seven movies and two short films, it has since gone on to become one of the most popular car centric flicks out there. With a combined gross of over 4 billion dollars world-wide box office sales, this series has a new movie slated for 2017 and possibly beyond. Despite the shortcomings from the recent death of Paul Walker who died in an automobile accident, Vin Diesel who plays lead character Dominic Toretto said he loves the idea of continuing on with further movies in the future.

If you’re a car lover who has somehow missed out on all the action, it’s crucial to watch Fast and Furious movies in order. Not only will you miss out on important character development if you don’t watch it in the correct order, but the movies follow a specific chronological series of events. The first movie introduces you to the lead characters, their history, and gives insight into the events that lead to the second film. While each film has its own separate plot, you will not understand certain aspects of subsequent movies if it’s not watched in the proper order.

The latest flick in the series which was released in 2015 is entitled Fast and Furious 7 and was the most successful move of the series yet. In fact, at a gross over $1 billion it was one of the most successful movies of all time. This is backed up by the Rotten Tomatoes rating it received, which was higher than all previous movies. It marks the final movie that Paul Walker will be featured in, using recycled footage from previous shoots. To fill in certain blanks, his brothers will act as doubles because they have similar features and body types. It just goes to show how wildly successful this series truly is, carrying on even after the death of a leading actor.

Because of the recent success of Fast 7, it was announced in April 2015 that the Fast and the Furious movie series would live on despite Paul Walker’s death. The Fate of the Furious or Fast 8 will be released in theaters on April 14th, 2017. It will be the first movie after Walker’s death that does not feature his character. According to Vin Diesel there will be two additional movies, 9 and 10 which will form a trilogy and also end this epic series. Currently no release dates have been officially announced, but we will be following this closely.

In fact, this movie series is so successful that it has spawned games, action figures, and even short films.  There are many games that use the Fast and Furious brand, including some for PS3, Xbox 360, and the Nintendo Wii.  In addition to the games there have also been short films to fill in blanks between actual movies.  Those two films are entitled Turbo-Charged Prelude and Los Bandoleros.

No matter if you’re a fan of cars or not, this action packed series is sure to please anybody.  For nearly the last 15 years, this story line has kept people on their edge of their seat waiting to find out what happens next.  With any luck, Paul Walker’s death will have no effect on the future of this franchise and we’ll have many more films to come.  Until then, stick to watching them in the proper order and we’ll see you in 2015.
