Indiana Jones Movies In Order

Indiana Jones is a household name, famous for his crazy adventures and action packed movies.  Harrison Ford who plays Jones, is a fictional archaeologist who always manages to find himself in danger, escaping just in the nick of time.  Originally created by George Lucas and sold to Disney in 2012, the Indiana Jones series has four separate movies and has branched out into television series, video games, books, and action figures.  Since its inception in 1981, this successful franchise has went on to gross nearly 2 billion dollars worldwide in combined box office earnings and earned many notable awards.

Unlike many series, it’s not that important to watch the Indiana Jones movies in order.  Each movie has a completely separate plot line from the others, and they aren’t really a sequential story.  I still recommend new fans watch them in order though, and I’ll explain why.  The first movie in the series, Raiders of the Lost Ark does a very good job at introducing all of the characters in the series.  You’ll meet all the characters, learn their personalities, and know what to expect in the following films.  So if you’ve watched them out of order, don’t worry there’s no spoilers in later flicks.  Sit back and start watching the earlier versions, it’s not too late!

Indiana Jones was not just about the movies, it was also a television series and some made for television films.  Unfortunately, the TV series, while successful only lasted a couple of years.  This is because the budget required to produce the show was too large to continue.  It was discontinued and revived with the made for television movies.  These movies turned into a 22 part series called The Adventure of Young Indiana Jones which aired from 1994-96 on The Family Channel.

Since the release of The Kingdom and the Crystal Skull in 2008, rumors have been swirling about subsequent Indiana Jones movies.  The rumors were further stirred up with the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney in 2012.  However, earlier this year it was confirmed that there would be no new movies because Disney is rebooting the Star Wars trilogy and is not focusing on other projects.  If they do decide to reboot the series, Ford will be replaced by a newer younger actor, and it won’t be for some time – at least another six years.

For adults, kids, males and females, Indiana Jones has been entertaining us for the better part of two decades.  This action adventure series is packed with thrill seeking, heart pounding action that is entertainment for people of all ages.  Hopefully the series continues long into the future because there sure is a fan base to support it.  Remember, it doesn’t matter what order you view them in, just have fun doing it!

I love watching Indiana Jones. Couldnt have picked a better actor then Harrison Ford to play the role of Dr. Jones. When will they make another movie?
