Resident Evil Movies In Order
Resident Evil originally started out as a video game in the 1990s but has since branched out into many forms of popular culture. Since the first game in 1996, Resident Evil has now taken on the form of movies, novels, comics, and has been featured in notable music videos. In fact, compared to other movies that were based off of video games, this movie series has made more money worldwide than any other film series. Grossing nearly 1 billion dollars, the sixth and final flick slated for 2016 is sure to please countless fans.
If you’re wondering if it’s required to watch the Resident Evil movies in order, the answer is a resounding yes. Apocalypse, which came out in 2004 directly proceeds the original movie. Subsequent releases also follow the same chronological order. In the original movie, a team struggles to quarantine the T-Virus from leaving The Hive. In the following release, the T-Virus escapes, and in later movies eventually infects the whole world. If you started watching in the middle of the series, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to properly follow the story’s timeline.
The Resident Evil series games are not totally identical to the movie. In fact, a common criticism to the films is that the plot line is vastly different. However, since the plot of the original games made little sense, it’s not surprising that the movie is fairly different. In fact, the original game’s story were so riddled with plot holes that they just started the story line over in Resident Evil 4. However, there are many similarities, and they did keep a lot of the characters from the games. Many people that are intimately familiar with both game and movie will admit that the plot to the film is far better.

One of the biggest differences between game and movies was the number of viruses. The game developers couldn’t figure out if the game was actually about zombies, or viruses, but there were a total of nine viruses. In comparison, the movie only had the T-Virus and the antivirus.
Despite the game’s many flaws, the movie series remains one of the most popular ever filmed. With five movies, and a sixth and final slated for 2016, it was widely accepted as the best video game to movie remake. In all there were a total of nine games, and seven novels that were all based on this fantastic story. Remember, it’s important to watch each of these movies in the order that they were released in to get the maximum experience.
