Transformers Movies In Order

When most people think of transformers, they think of the movies that were directed by Michael Bay. However, the idea has actually existed since the late 80s in the form of comic books and animated shows. There have been nearly a dozen different takes on this popular comic book, all by various authors. The movie series we’re all familiar with started in 2007 with the original movie, simply entitled Transformers. Since then there have been three subsequent releases, and a fourth one on the way. This series, particularly famous for its heavy use of CGI has continued to exceed box office limitations with over 3.5 billion in sales.

If you don’t want to invest a lot of time into this series, you can probably get away with picking and choosing which ones you watch. Since each movie is a standalone, it’s not really important to watch the Transformers movies in order. Sure, it would help to watch them chronologically by release date, but it’s not essential. If you’re really into the series, I suggest not only watching them by release date, but also reading the comic books which came out between the movies. This will help you understand the story line even more so than just watching the films.

Transformers, like The Matrix is another movie series that really did a bang up job with CGI. Since the entire premise is giant robots fighting, of course a little computer handiwork will be needed. However, the amount of it, and the attention to detail is really spectacular. And I would hope that’s the case, because these movies have a budget of around 180 million each!

While it’s true that each of these films had a massive budget, they also had massive profit margins. In fact, in the worldwide box office earnings this series made roughly 3.5 billion dollars. The first two movies brought in a mere 800 million, while the last two surprised a billion dollars each. It’s no wonder that there’s already a new movie slated for 2016. The title of the film is not yet known, currently it’s being called Transformers 5. One notable change is that Michael Bay said he will not be directing this one and will pass the responsibility to someone else.

Transformers has swarmed popular culture. As mentioned above, it’s an insanely popular comic series, with dozens of different versions. Different versions fill in gaps left between movies, and even offer us an understanding of what happened prior to the movies. There are also notable video games based off this series including mobile, and next generation console games.

Whether you like the story line of this series, one thing is for certain: you have to like the special effects. If we’re all being honest, many people watch Transformers just to be in awe of the CGI. The story line is almost secondary. However, with such a large amount of money being made in the box office, it’s clear this series is here to stay. So if you want to just watch a quick movie without getting into the whole series, go ahead and watch them in any order you’d like.

I liked them all, but one and two were the best. My husband was a huge fan as a kid, but he left the the theater after watching the fourth so mad that he refuses to watch ANY of them ever again!

Can’t wait for the new one in 2016 , if it’s as good as the last four, it will be a blockbuster to maybe surpass all of them??!!!!! ? ??
